We got together several weeks ago with some of our ‘deployment’ friends. We hadn’t seen each other in several months. The women, were significantly monumental in helping one another pass the time while our husbands were overseas. However, it became more clear to me how important the men were to each other. And, how well they actually got to know each other given the tight confines, sleepless nights and life threatening missions.
So…we played the newlywed game that night. It was just like the old show. The answers sometimes bordered on obscene but all-in-all just dealt with daily life. What became the most interesting part of the game, however, was how the men could answer for each other. They knew the others favorite foods, described how they ate, chuckled about their idiosyncrasies, and never let up on each other.
Sometimes, it isn’t just those that we marry that know us well. Within a few months, the soliders will have been home for as long as they were gone. It is hard to believe how fast time does move.
